"Not only one of the most deft pieces of physical comedy I have ever seen - it is as subtle as it is funny, and as literate as it is energetic and frantic!"
5 Stars -SEE Magazine

“Nothing short of a comic miracle.”
-FFWD Magazine

“Virtuoso Performances.”
-National Post

“The company has impressed before with clever riffs on history and the classics, but even by their high standards, this is - how else to put it? - damned good. "
NNNNN - NOW Magazine

In the bible, there is a plot-hole. No one knows what happened to Jesus between the ages of 13 and 30…until now! Follow Jesus on his incredible adventure as he searches for his ‘real father’, encounters Mary, John the Baptist, Judas, The Three Wise Men, Lepers, Satan, and goes on an interstellar journey through space! In Monster Theatre’s trademark style, physical comedy, mask, music, puppets, and historically savvy humour play a role in bringing this imaginative story to life. Intelligent, irreverent, fast paced comedy.

MONSTER THEATRE is committed to presenting history and myths in an exciting new package for today’s audiences. We believe that the human experience is more or less the same everywhere you go, throughout history.  This is the reason for the monomyth, why the worlds’ mythologies are almost identical, except for regional peculiarities.  We believe the same stories have been told throughout human evolution and that it is the artists duty to re-tell these stories to make them relevant for their time and place.

A Season in Hell

unearthing the inner workings of Rimbaud's prose-poem
Conceived and Performed by Screaming Flea Theatre
Written and compiled by Tanya Marquardt

An on-site absinthe party, a ritual performance and a secret meeting, A Season in Hell is the latest from Screaming Flea Theatre. A concoction for the senses, A Season in Hell incorporates text, movement, performance and booze on the road to unearthing the inner workings of Rimbaud's prose-poem A Season in Hell. This excerpt marks the start of our work with this source, so we hope you will join us for the first incarnation.

Performed by Nneka Croal, Heather Lindsay, Billy Marchenski and Derek Whidden, A Season in Hell is directed by Mallory Cattlett, with costume design by Angela Bright and music by James B. Maxwell. This new work in progress has been commissioned by Screaming Flea to be written and compiled by Tanya Marquardt, with dramaturgy by Derek Whidden.
